Celebs Throwing Shady Glances: Oscars Edition

Hollywood's biggest night took over social media last night as the 88th Academy Awards took the stage.
The talk of the night was certainly Leonardo DiCaprio and his win for best actor.  This became the most talked-about moment on Facebook and even overtook Ellen DeGeneres' 2014 record-breaking selfie as the most-tweeted Academy Awards moment ever!
And beyond Leo, we had a whole NEW slew of my latest obsession: Celebrities Throwing Shady Glances!
The Oscar for Shadiest Glance Moment goes to: The stuffy aisle of tuxedo-clad men!
Yup, that's right, a whole aisle!  Jenny Bevan won her second Oscar for Best Costume Designer (this time for Mad Max).  As she strode down the row to receive her award, it seemed the entire aisle gave her shade!  Men dressed to the nines in the typical Oscar-worthy tuxedos weren't even clapping as they looked her up and down.  Seems like they were not too fond of her casual attire, as she was wearing a leather jacket, casual top and minimal makeup.  SHADY!!! On a side-note, I say KUDOS to Jenny for being herself and wearing whatever she wanted to!!

The Shadiest Glance Honorable Mention (yeah, that's not really an Oscars thing, but we'll go with it!) goes to Chrissy Teigen!  Chrissy's faces have been memes before, notably after making overly expressive faces at the Golden Globes.  Her cringe-worthy face last night was aired after Sarah Silverman came onto stage, but Chrissy later tweeted that she was making the face about an earlier joke about Black History Month, not about Sarah!

Did you see any other glances you thought should be nominated for "Shadiest Glance"?  Which do you think was the shadiest?

Classy Lady Gaga Broke Twitter!

People usually have a lot of thoughts when you bring up Lady Gaga.  Not the least of which are flying costumes, dresses made of meat and weird gigantic head gear.

But the words that aren't usually top of mind are PURE CLASS.  At last night's Oscar's awards, though, that is exactly what she was.

Lady Gaga looked GORGEOUS and sounded even better during her "Sound Of Music" tribute performance.  And basically, the performance all but broke Twitter.  In a night of awards and great speeches, Lady Gaga's performance beat every other moment during the broadcast as far as number of tweets.

I have to admit, the whole time I was watching I couldn't keep my jaw off the floor.  She was so, so amazing.  It's no wonder she beat all the other Twitter numbers, she was the highlight of the night!

There were, of course, other topics at play during the evening.  You know, like the nominees and awards.  Time Magazine put out a pretty cool timelapse chart to show which Oscar nominated movies were trending in real time during the show.  Of course, the Best Picture winner ended up on top by the end of the night.  Go, Birdman!

What was your favorite moment of the show?  And were you just thinking OMG the entire time Lady Gaga was on!?

THE OSCARS: Common, Ladies, You’re Better than That!

Maybe this is idealistic, but when a celebrity reaches a certain status, it seems their tactics for attracting attention should shift.  The stunts, scandals and schemes that the up-and-coming use to attract attention and status seem forced and contrived when A-list-ers partake.  There is a point when you need to rely on your craft to keep you relevant.  Or at least there should be.

Alas, I was twice disappointed Sunday night during the Oscars.

J-Lo’s nip slip.  How is this still happening to celebrities “on accident”?

Its NOT that hard to cover yourself up.  As a female, I make sure the girls are properly covered each and every time I leave my house... and I am not going out to be followed around by paparazzi let alone to attend the nation’s largest entertainment event of the year.  Not only can you purchase brassieres for every shape size and potential dress neckline, but you can buy a plethora of tapes, adhesives, fabrics and other gizmos to avoid such a “slip”.

Sorry, Jenny from the block, I just don’t buy it anymore.

Lets face it, while J-Lo is wonderful and looked stunning Sunday night, no one would be mentioning her if it weren’t for this so called wardrobe malfunction.

And Angelina!?

I can’t stop thinking about that stance.  The awkward, almost defiant pose so overly concerned that the right leg would be fully visible through the high slit in her Atelier Versace gown. Why did she do that?  You are ANGELINA JOLIE!  You are gorgeous and the world knows you have great great legs.  You don’t need to parade like a hopeful starlet, so determined to make sure the dress and leg are positioned just so.  Were you gloating?  Did someone put you up to this?  Just a bad cramp in the hip?

And now that leg is everywhere.  First, the lighthearted antics of The Descendants screenwriters as they accepted their award mocked the ridiculous stance.  Now, Angie’s lovely limb has taken over social media with “Joliening” as the new planking and “legbombing” as the new meme.

As much as it pained me to watch her persistent posing,  I must admit; It is one darn good looking leg.
